One of my favorite orchids has developed root rot. I noticed a bit ago that the leaves and flowers started wilting.
It is time to attempt a salvage operation and see if I can rescue it.
Save the orchid…

Most of the roots are slimy, translucent and in general not looking good. I took the orchid out of the media that it was in, sprayed clean it with water in order to get a better view.

I removed most of the sick roots but kept the aerial roots. I left the orchid outside of the pot over night, while waiting for an overnight delivery of some new media to repot it in.

Manage to re-pot the orchid using some orchid bark I bought online. It got delivered today so I quickly put the orchid in it, watered it - this time while letting all the water flow out - and tying to a stick. I should probably cut the flowering stem to let the plant focus on recovering and growing new roots.

A 2-quart bag of Duspro Orchid Bark, made of 1/4"-1.5" pine bark chips. This is what I used for the re-potting media.
Removed rotting roots.
