Teikoku Brewery bottle
This is a 97 to 114 year old beer bottle made by Teikoku Brewery Co LTD.
I found this at the Imperial Japanese Army Naval Battery in Sasebo, Japan. I went there specifically because I knew that there hadn't ever been any development or permanent human presence on the Western slope of the mountain. So I walked all the way up the Eastern slope of the mountain (there's a road to follow on that side) and made it to the battery. I immediately made my way South to go around the battery, found a geocache that I had no idea was there, and then turned to the West to get onto the slope.
My logic was that Japanese soldiers that were stationed at the battery up until 1935 would have felt pretty safe discarding their trash, like bottles, over the side of the fortress and onto the steep-ish slope, knowing that it would make it's way down the slope and out of sight.
What I didn't expect, however, is to find a 100+ year old bottle just beyond the fortification, still sitting basically at the top of the mountain. I was also relieved as I was running out of daylight at that point and didn't actually have time to explore the slope.
